LET'S GROW TOGETHER THROUGH OUR SUMMER STUDY OF Colossians!

Each week, read or listen to the assigned section from the Book of Colossians, print or copy the Single Paragraph Outline, and use it to plan the response. Then, neatly copy the final paragraph onto the second page. All assignments must be complete and turned in on the Thursday after Labor Day.

All assignments must be handwritten with sentence structure

and vocabulary appropriate to your grade level.

Colossians 1:1-8 ~ Jesus Is the Good News! 

Big Idea: Jesus is the best news ever, and we should keep learning about Him!

Discussion Questions:
    •    What is the “good news” about Jesus?
    •    Why do you think Paul wanted to remind the church about Jesus again?

Journaling Question:
    •    Who do you like to tell good news to?

Colossians 1 ~ Growing in Jesus

Big Idea: Paul prayed that the people would learn more about God and do good things.

Discussion Questions:
    •    What did Paul pray for?
    •    What does it mean to live in a way that makes God happy?

Journaling Question:
    •    What is something kind or helpful you did this week?

Colossians 1 ~ Jesus Is in Charge!

Big Idea: Jesus made everything and holds it all together.

Discussion Questions:
    •    Who is Jesus? What big things has He done?
    •    How did Jesus make peace for us?

Journaling Question:   

•    What does it mean to be friends with God again? 

Colossians 2 ~ Keep Your Eyes on Jesus

Big Idea: Don’t let anything take your eyes off Jesus.

Discussion Questions:
    •    What kinds of things can distract us from thinking about Jesus?
    •    What does Paul want the people to remember about Jesus?

Journaling Question:
    •    What does it mean to live a new life with Jesus? Write about what your day might look like if you’re living for Jesus.

Colossians 3 ~ A New Life with Jesus

Big Idea: When we follow Jesus, we treat others with kindness and love.

Discussion Questions:
    •    What are some things God wants us to stop doing?
    •    What are some things God wants us to start doing?

Journaling Question:
    •    What does it mean to “put on love”?

Colossians 3 ~ Living for Jesus Every Day

Big Idea: We can show God’s love at home, school, and everywhere!

Discussion Questions:
    •    How does God want us to treat our family?
    •    Who can we pray for today like Paul asked the church to pray?

Journaling Question:
    •    How can you use kind words this week? Write what you might say to someone.
